CiciKeymaster
If you have deleted all your locations and are starting a new import into SLP with no existing stores, have you deleted the sl_id column from your export file?
Are you importing to the exact same WP site?
The CSV docs explains further about the CSV file headers and use of sl_id.
If you have already deleted the sl_id column, you didnt mention how large the import file is. If it is very large import your server may not be completing the import based on your configuration, limits , google query limits etc. etc. The Import is a 3 step process now.
If you have import messages on it will show you what your headers were and import info. See screenshot, I just imported a csv file of 86 locations that took less then 15 seconds and the import message file shows what was imported.

Looks like the center map at is now in SOCAL. No more Dorothy’ lingering around in Kansas
CiciKeymasterHello,
The issue is not with Store Locator Plus but with the Google algorithms. We have introduced work arounds to assist, specifically for those countries that Google seems to have problems with. Australia being one of them. (i.e some of the postal codes are not discrete enough for Google’s taste, there are other countries that use that postal code 2000 etc and Google will come back with the one that they decide is most relevant.)
The Experience add-on would help you (on sale at this time). You can test it out on the demo site. With Experience you can use “append” search (see documentation about this and discrete search ) the add-on also allows for additional filters and shortcodes . It also allows for autocomplte zip codes based on the locations in your dataset
I have a test site using Experience add-on and a page with Australia. I have shortcode center map at Australia since I have other map pages on my test site and I want that page to only show Australia. I then checked off Append search and added Australia. (See attached)
P.S Your site is not secure. Therefore Google will block some searches and will not allow Location sensor (GPS) to work. See this news article about the advantages of switching to HTTPS even if you do not need Location sensor
They consider this a security issue. You really should consider migrating your site to https and obtain a valid SSL. Google Chrome and other browsers are becoming very strict about this. The author has written articles about this . you may also wish to review the Google develop console, or research other articles in WordPress about the security. It is not necessarily an easy undertaking to migrate your site and it would require some extra steps. So use care and make sure you have a reliable back-up tool. ALWAYS
To show you what is being blocked on your site because of the http status, use your browser tools to inspect and look under the console box on your site , you will see these errors:
Error parsing header X-XSS-Protection: 1; mode=block; report=https://www.google.com/appserve/security-bugs/log/youtube: insecure reporting URL for secure page at character position 22. The default protections will be applied.

This graphic appears as the icon or icon array in the result listing or map info bubble.See documentation
For instance on this example, I have the Sydney Domestic airport icon I selected for airports but I did not change the map marker so the icon only appears under the results that has that category assigned . You can choose your own icon via the media manager as well. In this example I only assigned a media icon not the Map marker ot be replaced. You will note that the marker is not appearing on the map itself, I could select the same icon under the Categories map marker if I wanted to display the category icon/marker to appear the same on both the map and the results if I chose.
You may add a legend for the category icons or use a plugin gallery style that sets a legend icon array if you wish.
Also shown another example. I have transportation with the star maker and star icon set in the category manager, using bennet style which uses category button bar, I clicked on Transportation and you can see the icon in results next to name and also on the map as marker.

Check:
1) What is the setting under MAP/Center Map ? First box under AT STARTUP:
aif you have not designated a center map at or it is showing United States , i Google assumes the middle of the Untied states , usually in Kansas.
To change this Set ting: Ttpe in the box a location ,or a state, or a city, . I would select somewhere in the area where your locations are in Southern California.2) Otherwise if you want the center map in Kansas: Reset the Home map marker: You can select the Blank marker (usually the second one in under the map marker icons or delete the home marker url altogether. Depending on any add-ons they have there are also additional shortcodes
See documentation for Map panel settings
How radius works and other information.
CiciKeymasterThe Word Press SLP power add-on would be available to download to both your old site to export your locations data. You can then import same data into your new site as CSV file. (It has features and functionality beyond the import/export functionality)
If you are looking for an alternative Power solution (under MYSLP $12 a month) there is the subscription based SaaS solution that will also work for WP sites under MYSLP.
CiciKeymasterThe screenshot needed to better assist you is actually the
Plugin environment This shows us versions you are using, PHP , MYSQL and WP, SLP and SLP add-ons. (Note: some people may be reading this and I just want to clarify, it is not the same as screenshot of peoples WP Plugin list) Please see posting guidelines. and under your INFO page
If partial files are being imported the most common reason is under powered servers or being on a shared host servers. The result is servers timing out before the job is finished. There could be other limitations based on your configuration
See the authors Post about configuring to improve import.
If they are updating a location and do not need to geocode it, set the import to skip geocoding
If you are on a shared host, you could have hit your google query geocoding limits.
To alleviate that issue you could try scheduling the geocoding . There is a function under General settings to schedule timing of geocodoing, that is available with premier subscription.
Unfortunately, logging into your site would not help , hopefully the info above will help. You can also try to have the csv file broken into smaller chunks, or have geocoding to skip, etc. if you cannot upgrade server or PHP., etc..
CiciKeymasterThanks for letting us know. Oops sorry about the mis directed city name. Ahhh, yes Force-load Javascript will change lots of things concerning SLP. I believe there is some documentation about that as well.
Really appreciate your thoughtful responses and reviewing the docs site and mentioning it. We often have users post questions without looking at the docs. And you are absolutely right. If you do not set a center at in the Map Panel, Google will assume Kansas is a good starting point. International sites often ask why they are not seeing locations. In those cases the radius and results settings must be very high unless they use the shortcodes with Experience the way you have, with a center map at shortcode on the landing page.
Thank you for sharing your resolution!
CiciKeymasterPlease provide the Plugin environment etc . See Posting guidelines for assistance information . I can only answer in general terms otherwise.
Re: Are you using css or some other plugin to determine the landing page? if so that or your theme can be overriding some components of SLP. Normally Google determines directions based on your center map . On the page url you are referencing, all the directions are assuming starting point as Fortuna CA. If your map panel setting is Fortuna, CA that could be the reason.

CiciKeymasterYes WordPress Storelocator Plus is compatible with the version of PHP you are currently using. (5.4 or higher)
It IS very much encouraged to run PHP 7 and up. The author has published a few articles on the subject.
His article about SLP and PHP here may be of interest.Always Make sure you back up your site before any major changes. (we use Jetpack)
Here is Another technical article about updating your Configuration.
P.S. SLP is now at version 4.9.6, Power is 4.9.4
Thanks for the kudos. I will pass it along to the developer and author. He would really appreciate the review if you could rate the plu here.
CiciKeymasterYou need to update to the latest version of Power. When visiting your site , Power version was 4.9.2, it should be on 4.9.4 We also replied to you via email.
We had no issues uploading the csv file ad we could not access your staging site.

CiciKeymasterLance can probably write you a CSS to have it appear where you want it. Is there anything else, fonts or how results look or anything you would like to see in a Plugin style?
CiciKeymasterThe export feature is under Locations Bulk action. See documentation, keyword Export for more info.

You must be logged in to view attached files.CiciKeymasterHi, I activated Gravity Forms Location and Integration with latest versions of WP,SLP, and Gravity Forms (You must have Gravity Forms in order for the Gravity Forms add-ons to work) and did not see any adverse effects. They didn’t crash the test site and they activated ok. I do not use those add-ons so I cant speak to details, just they didn’t have an adverse effect.
Of course, the usual warning pertains, make sure you have compete back up of your site before updating
If you have any specific questions about them you would need to post on his Third Party forum. and follow up with an email if need be. I thought he was going to update all of his add-ons soon but I am not in direct communication with him at the moment so do not know his timeline.
CiciKeymasterMeg,
Thanks for letting us know and for providing your plugin environment and url. As a Premier customer you have the Premier forums available to you. Premier forum questions jump to the top of the list and answered first by support.
January 16, 2018 at 11:28 AM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55846CiciKeymasterFantastic. As a premier subscriber you can now post in premier forums,
P.S. You may also request access to the CharlestonSW Slack channels and reach the developers on live chat any time they are online in “code mode”. Use the Contact Form to request an invite to the Slack channels. The Slack channel is not intended to usurp the Premier forums. The developers might be in the middle of coding and not available to answer general questions so the Premier forum is still the best way to obtain tier one support.
January 15, 2018 at 2:29 PM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55841CiciKeymasterP.S. If you have the Power add-on you can download it from your account on your staging site, your new site …if it is for the same business we have no problem with you downloading it on two sites.
January 15, 2018 at 2:23 PM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55840CiciKeymasterIt shouldn’t break your WP admin panel by just updating SLP base plugin to 4.9. We have had many customers who updated from older versions of the base plugin to current version without issue. You can use one of many duplicate or clone plugins in WordPress and try the update on the cloned site.
Your legacy add-ons should be deactivated first. Understand you do not want to play around on a production site. You should have a staging, development or cloned site
If you follow the guidance, i.e, have a staging or virtual site and use that site to update plugins to see if you have any issues you should be ok.
If you use JetPack : besides real-time incremental backups of your site with restore points, has the ability to restore the site to an alternate site.
Please read the Migrating sites documentation
I am not an expert on migrating sites, so I try to err on side of caution. . If you need additional technical expertise before migrating , or need troubleshooting , consider using our developer consultant service or Login troubleshooting service to work with you.
January 15, 2018 at 11:26 AM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55838CiciKeymasterThose are good questions.
If you purchase premier you will be able to download and use the add-ons to the WP SLP Plugin on multiple sites.
A fresh install on your new site would be a good idea in my opinion. Once you have premier you can then use the Power add-on on your old site to export locations and then import them on your new site would be feasible. Be aware that you would need to update SLP to v 4.9.xx on your old site in order to use power version 4.9.xx. So make sure you have a back-up of the live site for sure. The new site will require a new Google API key. Also, to work properly you should have a secure https site.
Sounds like you have thought this through.
If you need further customization once you have Premier installed , let the developer know through contact forms.
CiciKeymasterCould you provide your site URL and your plugin environment so we can take a look at what is happening with your site?
Please refer to the Posting guidelines info needed to assist you. The info shown under Plugin environment will also show us version of PHP.
you may also find info in the troubeshooting or helpful hints. One issue may be that your Javascript in another plugin or theme is throwing errors preventing SLP from loading.
CiciKeymasterJust to clarify if others happen upon this post. The link I provided you about Downgrade options explains a bit more why the change was made. Announcements via News Feeds, Tweets, Social media, and posts of the direction of newer combined add-0ns were made for 18 months prior to that post.
The MySLP SaaS mentioned in that post as Option 3 is not the same thing. It was a service based software product that was built as a result of customers writing to the developer and asking if the Store locator Plus or something similar could be used for Weebly, SquareSpace etc.
So in that respect you could say it was an expansion of the business but it was not constructed to replace the WPSLP.
It uses javascript code to embed an html and is a simpler solution for less experienced site administrators
This forum is for the WPSLP plugin. Not to be confused with the
MySLP SaaS service that works with any web or mobile app and brings most of the features you find in the base WPSLP plugin .
The SLP team takes care of backing up the data, fully testing the software between releases, and adding custom MySLP features They manage the location server, geocoding limits, (you do not need to get your own Google API key) and all the other overhead of the locator. You just enter locations , check off the settings you would like , and paste a short snippet of JavaScript code on any page where you want your locator to appear.
It is not the same as a WP site hat has multiple plugins separate add-ons , requires updates to be maintained by a site administrator , etc. it does not need a user to have a technical skill set and/or knowledge base.
CiciKeymasterThe only reason your SEO pages was disabled when you updated SLP to 4.9.4 (not an auto update which is why we adhere to the mantra in WP codex about back ups and encourage all WP sites to have regular scheduled back-ups before updating any plugins or skipping updates . If the add-on was not disabled you would have received a fatal error message and it could possibly cause your WP admin access to break. We never disable add-ons that are compatible with the current versions of WordPress or SLP.
Please send an email to contact us to discuss options. or roll back SLP (you can do this in the WP directory see above link to downgrade SLP to earlier version.
CiciKeymasterNo, we are not trying to push you to upgrade. And it is not a monthly fee service. There may be some confusion there. The MySLP is a SaaS (subscription) hosted on the Store locator plus servers . MySLP can be deployed on non WordPress as well as WordPress platforms. The WPSLP add-ons are plugins that will only work on WordPress sites. You could deploy your site with MySLP but it is not being pushed nor suggested. The Power add-on for WPSLP includes updated and additional functionality and the import, export, categories, pages and additional functionality that were part of the add-ons. They are separate products.
You can downgrade the WordPress SLP or send an email to Contact the developer to review your options.
CiciKeymasterBecause of the required changes to SLP and the WP security patch , Any add-ons that had compatibility issues would be disabled to prevent any inadvertent fatal errors that could cause sites to crash.
The newer smart options coding and the WP security and updates with 4.8.2 required some changes to the way SLP and older add-ons were handled and rendered. (See info post about changes required)
You can restore your site back up to the version of SLP you had before. We do not suggest downgrading but if you do please read this guideline by the developer,
The Power add-on replaced ProPack, tagalong, (SEO) Pages, Contact Manager and Directory Builder.
If you need additional information please email support at contact us.
