    C,

I changed some settings on my site and , like you Google has decided that Laverton is in WA.  The good thing about having to pay for Google API services with the plug-in version is that you have access to their Support.  If all else fails please reach out to Google and tell them what you are experiencing. They might tell you that your site visitors still need to add either a state or a Postal code and not just search by town/city since even when you search using Googles own browser they always return the Laverton WA,  they have a reference that the other Laverton is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia,

So at the very least they probably want a postal code in addition since there are two

Without additional information such as versions plug-in info (see Posting in forums guidelines). I might not be able to provide you with the best answer.

I have no idea what your radius settings are , or if you have the Google Map domain set as Australia etc etc.

The center Map at does NOT limit what Google provides as a return when a search is done.  The center map merely centers the MAP.  The search works based on radius  AND what  Google “thinks” is the  best results etc.   how Google determines what to give you as results is based on their algorithms not ours. They apparently have decided that the most believable answer to return is the town in WA not in Victoria.

If you were using the SLP SaaS we could fine tune and add certain locations thru to our data base, but we  have no way to  run interference with what Google  MAP APII determines is correct in  the self managed version  i.e. the Plug-in.  We can provide you with some suggestions

    Check under  Radius Behavior

You might also  want  to use Location sensor if the site visitors live near that town  it will narrow down the returns

Or, If you have the Premier updates and active you can also use Show Google address guess

Or if ALL your locations are limited to Victoria add some shortcodes

to the WP  Page where you have SLP

Example I use this to ensure Google returns San Jose in Costa Rica instead of the many other San Joses that Google favors .

    • [SLPLUS  center_map_at=”Costa Rica” append_to_search=”Costa Rica” initial_radius=”1000″]

You would of course need to use the parameters and fields that make sense for your situation

Did you add the images in the media file in WP and do you have a url reference?  WP Info in the developers section might help

if   you also have the Experience add-on activated there may be more options for you.  You can check some of the available shortcodes here.

    Additional EXP shortcodes

I will ask the developer if there is an easier way to do what you want. He is not able to take on customizations currently.

    Claire,
Your post did not disappear the last post was in Premier support not this forum.
Just note you are not using the latest Versions. Also if you have the Premier version then you should also have the Experience add-on available for download. Also the reference does not show you as g=having Premier activated and the slp_pages is only with premier

    Attribute, Image
Use the image type to use the store field as the source of an image. Needs to be a fully qualified URL.

[storepage field=image type=image] will output the image URL as a displayed image on the page.   You do not need single apostrophe around the word image

I do not have WP developer skills and without seeing an example of what you are trying to do on your staging or dev site I cannot determine what you are trying to display.

What versions are you using on your site?

Premier subscription does not provide us the plugin environment info needed.

Please read posting guidelines . We need that info to better assist you.   A screenshot is best.

Are you referring to SEO Pages. It sounds like that is what you want not just a directory” list. Review these below to see if those example are what you really need.

Don’t use PHP 8  until the developer has a chance to address this or you may opt to switch to the SLP SaaS which works fine and is not dependent on you updating the plug-in and has no problems reported with PHP versions.

The WordPress  plug-in details are compatible with the WP version as shown

Our developer will get to it when he finished his current projects.

    Sorry for the inconvenience

Follow the link in the pop up box , that is generated by Google.  It asks if you own this website your answer is yes. Google will then tell you the issue .

If you also Inspect your site you will see a lot of errors and a warning.

The warning shows”. Google Maps JavaScript API warning: NoApiKeys https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys”

If you did not enable billing with Google you will need to set that up now.

    From Google.

Under certain circumstances, a darkened map, or ‘negative’ Street View image, watermarked with the text “for development purposes only”, may be displayed. This behavior typically indicates issues with either an API key or billing. In order to use Google Maps Platform products, billing must be enabled on your account, and all requests must include a valid API key. For help on finding error messages, see the section on checking errors in your browser.

The following flow will help you troubleshoot the issue.

    Charlie,

There are or were issues that I have uncovered in the WordPress support forumshttps://wordpress.org/support/topic/php-8-and-wp-5-6-php-fatal-error-uncaught-error-call-to-undefined-function/

Did you save the Fatal error script so we could see the error message generated?

The author has addressed all of these security vulnerabilities but WordPress has yet to resist. Please refer to the Authors NEWS notices with the changes.

Because WordPress has not  re-listed, you will need to upload the Basic Plugin found under your account /Downloads (since you have a current premier subscription it is included under your downloads no extra charge) and manually install it.  Current version is 5.12.xx

Also you can try Widget to redirect to a separate page if EV power has no subcategories. The Shortcode for the page would be “only_with_category=”EV or whatever the category is

with shortcodes there are a plethora of options

I tested using the Button bar for categories, along with Parent/Child categories.

You would have two parents ,

    1 EV,

    2 Gas,

Under Gas/  add the subcategories  and they will appear in drop down.

In my example I have used Packies (beer with subcategories) and Solar.

You can have no subcategories on one and sub categories on the other or vs versa . With the Button bar and Bennet layout both will display .

Example of two Parent /Sub and  selections (ignore the layout)

Did you try the radio button bar with the Bennet theme and a category legend checked off?

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/category-button-bar/

Are you testing on a new clone site not your production site?

I understand the scenario , you want to combine selector styles. I can mention to Lance and see if he has another idea that doesn’t include customization. He has been super busy with a large custom software project (not WordPress)

I will try some experimentation as well to see if I can come up with a solution.

Tags and categories  are 100% independent of each other,

    tags are   non – hierarchical

    categories: a hierarchical taxonomy

Please refer to  the WP  developers handbook for the explanation of categories, taxonomy, tags framework .

The info in the WP developer may give you some ideas on how to better organize the groups.

Alternatively you may decide to create multiple parent child categories instead of single parent

in reply to: Make a dropdown dependent #82468
    Cici
    Keymaster

    Under Settings/Search

With Premier there are additional hierarchy selector options such as Single Parent, Parent /child relationship . They can be further defined with a relationship if you are referring to categories, such as horizontal checkbox with an OR

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/store-and-category-manager/

You need to set up a parent as it appears you have.  You could also redirect to a new map page using Widgets and  shortcodes

I can not tell if you are using TAGS in text or Categories. You can use hierarchy rules if using categories. Tags are just text and do not have hierarchy.

Without specific information aid is difficult to ascertain and answer .

Could you provide a specific example ? Also versions, do you have Premier, experience and power activated, what versions etc.

    Hello Jenny,

Since I assume you are using the WordPress SLP Plug-in , we  have no insight into your backend, since you are using the self managed plugin.

What is your plug-in info? (as described in the posting guidelines). If you have the Power add-on try exporting your locations and uploading to Google sheets or another format so that you can readily see what may be missing or different.’ Then you can update the back end. I would do that on a staging site or test site before making any major changes to your list

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/troubleshooting-large-scale-exports/

    P.S.

If you were using the.   SLP SaaS  platform I could take a look for you to see what is happening.

Every WordPress site is set up differently so I really have no idea what’s happening.
