LOL, I am glad you found the issue. Please let us know if you have any problems after the next updates scheduled to be released sometime before (hopefully) June 11. Most people will not be effected by the change in Google quotas as long as they add billing credentials to their API projects but we know it will scare a lot of people , especially those who never got an API key since will no longer have geocoding functions without one. We have posted news content about the upcoming changes and will do so again.

I will close this support ticket . Thanks

No idea, if you didn’t update anything on our end. Did you update WOrdPress or any other plugins?

I just went to your site and a pop up window came up and states “this site most likely needs an API key.” That is not coming from us but most likely direct from Google, I guess it is their way of giving you a warning before the June 11 deadline. As far as I know they didnt move the deadline up but who knows, its google.

You probably need to find a solution to not being able to update the plugins soon. Google requires an API key and a billing account for everyone now. we cannot guarantee old versions of the plugin or insecure sites are going to continue to work as a result.

The developer is also making changes to the base plug-in as a result of the new google API key requirements and concerns about privacy.

Starting with 4.9.15 there will be two keys, one for browser key (allowing for HTTP referrers) and then another for a geocoding key.

Check your theme to see if the col width is inherited . If  you say you tried many different plugin styles and they  do not return properly you may need to adjust by adding some CSS rules.

You can check if it is your theme that is overriding by switching to a basic WP default theme . WP 4.9.6 changed some theme settings as well. See WP codex for 4.9.6

Check your Google API key for restrictions and/or referrers. I now have tested the only_with_category shortcode and all is working correctly. I had to ensure i had a google API key for geocoding correct and all is working now.

Do you have a staging site where you can clean up the site or to do your testing on?

when I inspect that site using the browser tools I do not see any fatal errors but I do see these warnings:

(index):686 A parser-blocking, cross site (i.e. different eTLD+1) script, https://widgets.shopifyapps.com/assets/widgets/embed/client.js, is invoked via document.write. The network request for this script MAY be blocked by the browser in this or a future page load due to poor network connectivity. Looking at your site, I cannot tell which widget I should be looking at to find the only with category page. Could you provide specific url, you can post in the premier forum and if we cannot resolve the developer can look at the specific page url.

Could you also let me know which Plugin style you are using? is it a Gallery style and if so which one?. I just checked my site, I have added a shortcode

    [SLPLUS only_with_category=”entertainment”]

i disabled the intital directory. When I first searched within 10 miles no results, I checked my locations again and found that my locations marked as entertainment category  were 100 miles away , using the drop down miles I selected 500 miles and searched again. All the locations within 500 miles marked as entertainment appeared, no other categories appeared.  The Plug-in style I tested was  default Store Locator Plus layout.   This is the basic layout for the locator.  It allows default browser and website themes to dictate the element styling.

I am conducting further tests though….I am having a problem with an old category I had that was a child category and then changed it, it had hyphenated slug.  I will test it with the new Power and SLP beta release as well as soon as it is available.

Bottom line you need to contact your theme author or whomever developed CSS for that theme and get them to fix it. Or Consider changing to a WordPress theme.

In fact that is a good way to test if itis your theme that is interfering, again suggest you do that on a staging or dev site but either way that is most likely a good pace to start

Those are not debugger logs, You need to use the WP debugger to find out which plugin or theme is throwing the javascript errors and breaking the store locator plus results.

I just went to your site. I loaded your site using CHROME and inspected it and there are less errors but this error is now coming back from your theme…..

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()https://www.mrspindle.com/wp-content/themes/flatsome/css/fonts/icomoon.woff

If you do not know how to troubleshoot your site and need the developer to  log-in and troubleshoot and provide you the detailed information needed for you to fix your individual site that would be a Paid support option .

I cannot fix your site from screenshots and tell you what is broken but switching plug-ins mid stream with existing or older themes can break things. This is why you should always have a back-up service and use something like vault press to restore back to.  As a side note, the developer will not log into your site unless you have a full back-up. We never will make changes to someones production sites

The duplicate entries are being fixed with Power beta 4.9.15 and SLP beta 4.9.15. If you have a staging site or dev site and would like to download any of the pre releases and let us know if you experience any issues that would be great. Pre release, beta versions are not intended for use on production sites. The categories panel duplication under SLP settings is still being addressed. Did you figure out the legend? what other issues were your seeing specifically/

you still have errors SyntaxError: expected expression, got ‘<' store-locator-js.php:1 and are using WP Store Locator somewhere in your site. Follow the Debugger instructions https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/debugging-with-debug-log/

Your locations and results are loading but the search box is not working correctly

You have error messages on that page
you are using two different locators on the same site. You have the WP Store locator and the Store Locator Plus. Your site is throwing the error with WordPress Store locator not us, you need to decide which product you are going to use and delete the other one. RED FLAGS

I see what you mean. I have contacted the developer, he switched the page styles over to Vue so there may be some residual rows or columns, I will have him take a look at it.

If you use Janitor it will show you all the settings and labels in use:

Referring to the label portion not just location data , sorry add options_nojs…I will get more clarification.

If there is a specific plug in style you are trying to obtain, Lance might be able to add it to the Gallery style to make it easier (time permitting) if you send us an email wit exact look and feel you need.

Its just span class <[slp_location hours]>

its not an option field its a location data field.

You can add the shortcode [tagalong legend] to that and any layout but it will not loo very nice unless you tweak it and put it n the right spot.
I used the Default Legend below style for best results.

I will add those tags thanks”they will pretty much go to this page that explains it

as far as label hours you can search using key words

The plugin? You mean the business correct?

here is the link to OUR privacy policy and also it is at the bottom of this page and every SLP page.

If you use our plugin on YOUR sites, you need to have your own Privacy policy iaw Wp 4.9.6.

Or Are you asking for a widget on your home page to be similar to how the Category button bar works now? Not sure which you are looking to do. The Category button bar will filter

I am not sure what you have available to you because all of the add-ons and your site is not on current versions.

Thank you for letting us know about the docs misdirect. Lance changed some of the tags to be smart options and I needed to correct the links in the docs page, I missed a few apparently. I just fixed it to go here but I will need to update that docs page to talk about plugin styles as well.

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/store-and-category-manager/

Could you provide your SLP plugin environment (versions) and also which SLP Plugin style are you using under view?
Some work better then others but I will report this to the developer if after changing plugin styles or adding the taglong legend shortcode they still do not display.

You can also add the shortcode under the view results layout:

Where the zip code search sends you is a Google issue not an SLP issue.

But one issue that you have, is that you are not running on a secure site. because of this, Location sensor is not working. For instance I visited your site and typed in 29484, the locations in results load but the ones nearest me (since I am in Charleston) did not load first. If you had a secure site and enabled Location sensor that one would come up first I assume.

(There may be a time in the future when Google Maps restrict unsecured sites further. Have you read the news feeds about the requirements to have a Google API key and add a billing account to it?)

Since Google is not recognizing the zip code for Perry SC, you may need to put a description in the search form to tell people that both a zip code and city is needed. When I typed in Perry SC in your search box it did return correctly.
If you do not wish to do that you can try the append to search shortcode to be conditional. I do this for countries (like osta Rica) that Google likes to ignore. Are all your locations in the US and the Southeast? If so you can add the shortcode on the page something like this (inside your shortcode brackets)

    [SLPLUS map_region=”us” center_map_at=”Aiken,SC”,initial_radius=”1000″ append_to_search=”United States”]

You shouldn’t need to do all that but it will help if google is refusing to recognize your zip codes as is.

Or, since you have Premier, you can use the Settings/Search/Auto-complete-zipcode….and when someone begins typing in a zipcode it will fill in after the first three from your data set.
See the documentation for all these tools.

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/location-sensor/

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/store-locator-plus-discrete-searches/

    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/mixed-content-warnings-site-migration/

Is there a reason why you have not updated to the latest versions of SLP, Premier,Power, experience etc as yet? Thought that was something you were working towards…. with the versions you are running now I am afraid I cannot test anything or provide much guidance as we no longer are working with those versions. If it worked before the way it is, then the answer is simply that google changed their algorithms like they constantly do to misdirect and you will need to tell your customers to provide more details in their search or try some of the other tools I suggested..

Thank you, the developer will fix it in the next Premier update!!

in reply to: Zip code shows NO LOCATIONS FOUND. #56566
    Cici
    Keymaster

P.S. I have recently tested on my test site and indeed Google is ignoring the “zip” or Postal code 2000 for Sydney and all other postal codes in Australia are returning properly. No idea what is going on with Google but I searched in the Google developers issues here:https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/72122489

and apparently in January 2018 Google changed the filtering , they called it ‘New Forward Geocoding” and the suggestion in Stack overflow was to be more specific with filtering. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48346019/geocode-component-filtering-with-field-locality-not-working-as-expected

So I went back to test on my site. If I added the City Sydney and the zip 2000 it came back with all the locations and data sets I have in my dataset for Sydney . If I type in just Sydney in the search box, it also returned all the locations in Sydney. But if I JUST use the zip or postal code 2000 I get No results even though their are results in my dataset

So until the SLP developer can find yet another work around for Googles new found screw ups, the best suggestion I can give you is to add labels or text in the search box instructing the viewer/visitor to enter the address/ city NOT just postal code. Another suggestion could be to use the discrete filter by drop down widget to show the Locations by City. Also a heads up…Google is adding another layer of tom foolery June 11, 2018 requiring all APIs to have a billing account. Please read the latest news for more info.
