CiciKeymaster
I cannot readily answer your question without knowing your Plugin environment (found under the SLP Info tab) , see posting guideline
Nor the example of your file header names, i.e sl_store, sl_address,sl_city csv file examples
If it imports some lines and not others then most likely there is an issue with your csv file format.
Review the multiple pages in documentation for example troubleshooting CSV imports and CSV file headers.
CiciKeymasterAdditional info If you click on the link above with the get response:
"code":"rest_invalid_param","message":"Invalid parameter(s): apikey","data":{"status":400,"params":{"apikey":"Invalid parameter."}}} There are a few articles about the REST set up as well. I am not sure if I am even looking on the correct page anymore, if you still need assistance could you provide the exact url where you are having the issue? I checked an old email that you sent and the url on that one seems to be working correctly. Sorry for the confusion if I am looking at the wrong site. This is why we ask for URL as well as plugin environment. Hope all is working out for you

CiciKeymasterThe redirect is being shown above and is broken (http to https)
About the google API here are some FYI tips:
Lance published a few articles for customers to assist them with the referrer and setting up the APIs

CiciKeymasterHi Catherine,
Your site is showing the referred page as this: http://learnlocal.org.au/find-a-learn-local/
which isnot secure. When the site was developed was it migrated from http to https? Was the Google MAPS API updated?
Using any Browser inspect the site : errors are being shown.

CiciKeymasterP.S. Since you are a Premier customer, are you using anything available to you that wil help your site visitors, such as Google guesses or auto fill ?
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/show-address-guess/
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/how-to-show-address-suggestion/
CiciKeymasterFirst, we need to see your Plugin environment . Neither of those screenshots provides any info for us to be able to assist you better. A screenshot of your SLP plugin environment is better.
There was a patch to fix the defaulting search region to US. I cant see your back end nor your web site to see if your region is being populated correctly. I.e If you selected Australia as your region map.
Second:
As explained in various news feeds and documentation. the Google commercial MAPS algorithms is NOT the same as the Google MAPS APIS they offer for third party and/or self managed use of their MAPS APIS. See HOW search works (it explains and offers suggestions
They won’t flat out tell you this but they DO misdirect all the time.
Also Google commercial maps “listens” in and keeps a history of your location, where you have searched before and they still do not always get it right.
The MYSLP fully managed service as an alternative to WPSLP uses different algorithms to search a geodataset before querying Google API and often returns better results because we do not rely on Google but fix lat. long real time. Without getting too technical, please review the following articles and docs.
If you are not using the latest version of WPSLP then update.
CiciKeymasterHi,
Sorry about that. The developer is deeply involved with scheduled client commitments atm. He does not have a lot of updates pending as far as WPSLP issue. I will see if there is any new information or update with this issue
CiciKeymasterOn further investigation it looks like it may be built into your theme and not part of SLP.
white url(/wp-content/themes/salient-child/assets/images/loading_spinner.gif) no-repeat
If you try a standard WP theme does the issue resolve?
CiciKeymasterDid a developer or someone else purchase the SLP Premier subscription and then never pass it on to you, or did not renew the annual fee , or migrated the site and just used the base plug-in and not the premier plugin ? Not sure what is going on with your site but that is not normal behavior of our base plugin. As mentioned the only feature that has that indicator built in is for our premier subscribers.
CiciKeymasterIt looks like someone may have tried to recreate some functionality that is included for our premier customers . you have not indicated if you are a Premier subscriber or provided us with any info regarding your SLP plugin. You need to provide your Plugin environment in order for us to assist you. A screenshot of the front end does not help us answer any questions.
Please refer to the read before posting guidelines.
. The only Loading locations indicator we have is available ONLY for our premier subscribers.
for some reason on that site someone has rest forbidden
https://www.storelocatorplus.com/wordpress-subdirectory-installs-and-the-rest-api/
Use a browser developer tool and you can inspect when I inspect that site:
{"code":"rest_forbidden","message":"Sorry, you are not allowed to do that.","data":{"status":401}}
CiciKeymasterIt is the best solution, SLp already has the minify functionlaity and the Smush plugin needs to follow best practices when developing plugins, no plugin should break the functionality of another plugin. Especially one that has been updated and been around for years.
If you look at their support forums you will see lots of issues especially with the WP version 5.0 update
🙂
CiciKeymasterYou may need to update the base SLP first to current version. And your WP is out of date. That WP version you are showing broke a lot of plugins and broke the ability to import. They fixed the issue in WP v 5.03 so it may be a good dea to update wp as well if you have issues with any other plugins and updates.
If you deactivate SLP and the SLP add-ons and then reactivate them you should see an update available with version under the plugin verbiage.
How to update and if you need to update manually see news feed.
CiciKeymasterindicates there is a conflict with another plugin. Some SLP users reported a conflict with the Plugin Smush it. (SLP is already minified.)
You need to turn off other plugins one by one to see which one is causing a conflict. If that does not fix it, see using WP debugger
In the future please read posting guidelines and provide you SLP plugin environment (versions etc)
March 19, 2019 at 1:01 PM in reply to: multilingual support – search settings and location translations #58984CiciKeymasterHi,
Those article were written some time ago, . According to the Google MAPS API platform the geocoding APi should address that. At least thats what they posted in Nov 2014 here
Now that Google makes everyone have an account and PAY for every geocoding instance or map view, they now have support option for their “customers” . Although the WPSLP plugin has fields for you to enter your own Google MAPS and geocoding APIS, you manage them and what Google geocodes is out of our hands for the WPSLP self managed plugin.
As far as choosing km or miles, that is not a function of language and is not a dynamic setting. You can change it in settings on the back end to one or the other but it is not dynamic on the front end. we are not planning on building any interface that would switch automatically.. While most countries replaced the mile with the kilometre when switching to the International System of Units, the international mile continues to be used in some countries, such as Liberia, Myanmar, the United Kingdom and the United States.
It may be something you or a developer could code to function that way (not sure how) but it is not part of the WPSLP suite.
March 18, 2019 at 11:07 AM in reply to: multilingual support – search settings and location translations #58978CiciKeymasterWPSLP is part of the WordPress translate project.
As far as WPML, the SLP developer has worked with them on multiple occasions to get assistance from their team when bugs or errors were reported. They never fixed any of the issues we reported to them. They indicated everything was working . Their support team may be responsive to you if you see anything specific.
There is also documentation dating back to older versions of WPSLP and WPML
Multi lingual technical considerations
2) As far as translations on a “per location” basis, No that will not work the way the the WP translation projects works. It deals with the back end.
CiciKeymasterI think we answered this in conjunction with the question regarding if you are using SEO pages or not. If you are not using SEO Pages the website link automatically does not show up if there is not one for the location. But once you enable pages that does not behave the same because each “website” will go to SEO page instead. Its all in at that point. Because of your other questions, comments and request for info we assume you are using SEO Pages or a Directory.
CiciKeymasterNote: Another section that talks about the map markers
There is a video for custom map markers it is more then 2 years old and the label in front of the field I mentioned was called location under Markers.
On the video just be aware that when lance explains and shows the back end of SLP and where to add the marker, the heading called “experience” is now displayed in the back end as “Settings”. That verbiage was changed so as not to confuse the experience add-on with what was the end users experience that can be adjusted via settings. I have replaced most screen shots with newer verbiage but we are not shooting videos again for those.
here is the page for custom map markers with the video (you probably do not need the video but it does show where under the Map settings tab you have the locations marker settings) as mentioned, if you do not have a whole section called markers you have something else going on with your site , (only time I recall something like that being reported was if migrated WP then there are SLP tables missing.) 🙁
CiciKeymaster? You do not have a section under Settings/Map/ and a subsection at the bottom (scroll down using inside slide bar to get to the very bottom of the page) the whole last section is labeled MARKERS in bold . That is where you set the two markers Home and location. You have the latest versions of the plugin correct? The label after home marker the next one is location marker. not sure if it was called something else before but that is what it is called on my site. If you do not have a section called Markers in the back end something may be interfering with SLP.
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/map-panel-settings/
CiciKeymasteris not the same as the center location. ” The results interaction set of features provides a variety of visual cues on the location map to indicate the location a user has clicked when viewing a list of locations., providing a variety of additional options beyond the standard Info Bubble that Store Locator Plus displays when a location is clicked.”
Inspect your site and that element and it is showing it is what you have selected as an icon for the “your location” https://apa.uk.com/wp-content/plugins/store-locator-le/images/icons/bulb_AMP.png
Most likely then it is your location marker which is set under the Settings.MAP
These are the only places that use map markers, either under the MAP settings or category settings and now with premier as you mention under the results interaction setting which I am not sure you need or intended to use.
CiciKeymasterSometimes I just get lucky (if I am persistent). I checked your site again, it looks pretty nice, I see the descriptive tag text in the results there so it appears you were successful and see the <div class=”Practitioner slp_result_table_tags”><span class=”tagtext”>Practitioner</span></div> when I inspect with the browser tools. Inspecting sites using browser tools was a valuable instruction given to me by Lance when i first started learning his plugin. But I am a casual user. I learn as much from the customer when they provide feedback, so thank you for letting me know the steps you took! Not many people use both categories and tags , but i will take a look at the docs to see if i can add more detail.
CiciKeymasterLet me test it on my site.
My results layout has the shortcode [slp_location pro_tags]
When I select on back end , the show tags on separate lines , and inspect the in style element using browser console tool in front end I see my tags for my location and the lodging, entertainment, restaurant tags I had added to that particular location show (below.) my SLP plugin style is Bobbitt
<div class=”Lodging_br__entertainment_br__restaurant slp_result_table_tags”><span class=”tagtext”>Lodging<br>entertainment<br>restaurant</span></div>
I am not an expert on CSS , not sure why the show tags isnt working on front end for you. I checked another SLP test site that was using SEO Pages the tag only seems to show in the map bubble.
So I do not know if that is what the issue is or not, will have to discuss with the developer, as he mentioned in another post Results Layouts settings and SEO pages are different.
CiciKeymaster@Mindy Good to hear that. If you have any other questions please start a new post. I am planning on closing this one as resolved since the initial tag, header for the post was Canadian postal codes and we now have wandered off subject
Have a good week
🙂
CiciKeymasterAre you using SMUSHIT or something like that that minifies? That was a reported conflict from some of our users months ago. You will need to deactivate it.
Other suggestion: go through the WP debugger or troubleshoot by shutting off all other plugins one by one to rule out conflict.
You should have a backup to restore to if anything goes awry. P.S. It is suggested as WP best practices to Update MySQL to 5.6 or higher
CiciKeymasterok, I tested using that style and added an address for Germany and you are right it does not display correctly in the results. I tried a few different default styles. I think (pretty sure) it is because it doesn’t have an entry as ‘state” . I tried a few work arounds, I am able to fix it on my end because I have the experience add on and I can correct the results layout, but for basic SLP plugin it currently shows correctly in the map info bubble (when you click on marker) but in the results text runs the city and postal code together . A temporary and (not correct) method would be to add a state or area such as a suburb or designated area (such as neighborhood Sachsenhausen in Frankfurt considered a state/province or suburb in the field of state as text , I understand this is incorrect in most cases and , I have identified this issue to the developer and he will put it on a “to be patched” list for the next update.
Thank you for reporting this and sorry it took a while for me to isolate the issue
For general info purposes what I was also looking for was your plugin environment under info tab
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/info-tab-plugin-environment/
Plugin environment, will show the version, the add ons if any, the PHP, MYSQL version, the WP version, example what is in my info plugin environment you can always block out url if needed.
