CiciKeymaster
Meg,
Thanks for letting us know and for providing your plugin environment and url. As a Premier customer you have the Premier forums available to you. Premier forum questions jump to the top of the list and answered first by support.
January 16, 2018 at 11:28 AM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55846CiciKeymasterFantastic. As a premier subscriber you can now post in premier forums,
P.S. You may also request access to the CharlestonSW Slack channels and reach the developers on live chat any time they are online in “code mode”. Use the Contact Form to request an invite to the Slack channels. The Slack channel is not intended to usurp the Premier forums. The developers might be in the middle of coding and not available to answer general questions so the Premier forum is still the best way to obtain tier one support.
January 15, 2018 at 2:29 PM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55841CiciKeymasterP.S. If you have the Power add-on you can download it from your account on your staging site, your new site …if it is for the same business we have no problem with you downloading it on two sites.
January 15, 2018 at 2:23 PM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55840CiciKeymasterIt shouldn’t break your WP admin panel by just updating SLP base plugin to 4.9. We have had many customers who updated from older versions of the base plugin to current version without issue. You can use one of many duplicate or clone plugins in WordPress and try the update on the cloned site.
Your legacy add-ons should be deactivated first. Understand you do not want to play around on a production site. You should have a staging, development or cloned site
If you follow the guidance, i.e, have a staging or virtual site and use that site to update plugins to see if you have any issues you should be ok.
If you use JetPack : besides real-time incremental backups of your site with restore points, has the ability to restore the site to an alternate site.
Please read the Migrating sites documentation
I am not an expert on migrating sites, so I try to err on side of caution. . If you need additional technical expertise before migrating , or need troubleshooting , consider using our developer consultant service or Login troubleshooting service to work with you.
January 15, 2018 at 11:26 AM in reply to: Upgrading SLP to latest version from a non-supported version #55838CiciKeymasterThose are good questions.
If you purchase premier you will be able to download and use the add-ons to the WP SLP Plugin on multiple sites.
A fresh install on your new site would be a good idea in my opinion. Once you have premier you can then use the Power add-on on your old site to export locations and then import them on your new site would be feasible. Be aware that you would need to update SLP to v 4.9.xx on your old site in order to use power version 4.9.xx. So make sure you have a back-up of the live site for sure. The new site will require a new Google API key. Also, to work properly you should have a secure https site.
Sounds like you have thought this through.
If you need further customization once you have Premier installed , let the developer know through contact forms.
CiciKeymasterCould you provide your site URL and your plugin environment so we can take a look at what is happening with your site?
Please refer to the Posting guidelines info needed to assist you. The info shown under Plugin environment will also show us version of PHP.
you may also find info in the troubeshooting or helpful hints. One issue may be that your Javascript in another plugin or theme is throwing errors preventing SLP from loading.
CiciKeymasterJust to clarify if others happen upon this post. The link I provided you about Downgrade options explains a bit more why the change was made. Announcements via News Feeds, Tweets, Social media, and posts of the direction of newer combined add-0ns were made for 18 months prior to that post.
The MySLP SaaS mentioned in that post as Option 3 is not the same thing. It was a service based software product that was built as a result of customers writing to the developer and asking if the Store locator Plus or something similar could be used for Weebly, SquareSpace etc.
So in that respect you could say it was an expansion of the business but it was not constructed to replace the WPSLP.
It uses javascript code to embed an html and is a simpler solution for less experienced site administrators
This forum is for the WPSLP plugin. Not to be confused with the
MySLP SaaS service that works with any web or mobile app and brings most of the features you find in the base WPSLP plugin .
The SLP team takes care of backing up the data, fully testing the software between releases, and adding custom MySLP features They manage the location server, geocoding limits, (you do not need to get your own Google API key) and all the other overhead of the locator. You just enter locations , check off the settings you would like , and paste a short snippet of JavaScript code on any page where you want your locator to appear.
It is not the same as a WP site hat has multiple plugins separate add-ons , requires updates to be maintained by a site administrator , etc. it does not need a user to have a technical skill set and/or knowledge base.
CiciKeymasterThe only reason your SEO pages was disabled when you updated SLP to 4.9.4 (not an auto update which is why we adhere to the mantra in WP codex about back ups and encourage all WP sites to have regular scheduled back-ups before updating any plugins or skipping updates . If the add-on was not disabled you would have received a fatal error message and it could possibly cause your WP admin access to break. We never disable add-ons that are compatible with the current versions of WordPress or SLP.
Please send an email to contact us to discuss options. or roll back SLP (you can do this in the WP directory see above link to downgrade SLP to earlier version.
CiciKeymasterNo, we are not trying to push you to upgrade. And it is not a monthly fee service. There may be some confusion there. The MySLP is a SaaS (subscription) hosted on the Store locator plus servers . MySLP can be deployed on non WordPress as well as WordPress platforms. The WPSLP add-ons are plugins that will only work on WordPress sites. You could deploy your site with MySLP but it is not being pushed nor suggested. The Power add-on for WPSLP includes updated and additional functionality and the import, export, categories, pages and additional functionality that were part of the add-ons. They are separate products.
You can downgrade the WordPress SLP or send an email to Contact the developer to review your options.
CiciKeymasterBecause of the required changes to SLP and the WP security patch , Any add-ons that had compatibility issues would be disabled to prevent any inadvertent fatal errors that could cause sites to crash.
The newer smart options coding and the WP security and updates with 4.8.2 required some changes to the way SLP and older add-ons were handled and rendered. (See info post about changes required)
You can restore your site back up to the version of SLP you had before. We do not suggest downgrading but if you do please read this guideline by the developer,
The Power add-on replaced ProPack, tagalong, (SEO) Pages, Contact Manager and Directory Builder.
If you need additional information please email support at contact us.

January 9, 2018 at 10:38 AM in reply to: Map not showing when location sensor is enabled since update to version 4.9.3 #55698CiciKeymasterHi Maikel,
There was a recent issue that came up with Google and the developer discovered some shenanigans behind the scenes with javascript and Google. (Not sure if it effected the map portion)
Could you please provide your Plugin environment and site url? ( see guidelines of what we need to be able to assist you)
CiciKeymasterHere is some additional information on the docs site.
If you could provide versions, site url etc (Please read posting guidelines) we would be happy to guide you.
CiciKeymasterIf you moved or migrated your domain, did you get a Google MAP API for the new development domain?
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/geocoding-stopped-working/
CiciKeymasterOk, I think our answers crossed paths, but yes, it cannot be restricted. WP must be able to get to it.
let me know how it works out for you. I will close the post in a few days if all is well.
Thanks for providing the information in your reply.CiciKeymasterAny remote URL must be accessible to the public.
If you can’t surf to it in private mode in a browser w/o entering credentials it won’t work.
If you have different versions of your plugin environment when you respond , please provide them . Alsao make sure your WPcron is not disabled.CiciKeymasterIs the URL a public accessible url?
when I add a remote file retrieval, my url is not cleared out and is sitting there waiting for the WPCron.
not sure what your screenshots are showing us?
The “latest Power” Does not show us your current plugin environment.
CiciKeymasterYes
Use the short codes on a separate WP Page or Post. [SLPLUS only_with_category=”category”] The word in quotes is the category slugP.S Please provide your versions and plugin environment as shown in the posting guidelines. There are changes depending on what versions of the SLP plugin, add-ons, WP and even which version of PHP. All that information is found under your SLP/Info/Plugin environment tab.
The shortcodes information can be found on the docs site
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/slplus-shortcode-options/
CiciKeymasterWhen I added the new location to my site with address as Place Verte 21, Spa Belgium postal code 4900, google came back with a different LAT/Long then what you are showing.
So I then just went direct to Google Maps , not usingSLP plug in and added address Place Verte 21, SPA belgium and got the same results
the lat long as shown here https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Place+Verte+21,+4900+Spa,+Belgium//@50.4908973,5.8589588When I add your Latitude and Longtitude using any browser it comes back as the Hotel r…your Lat and longtitude is incorrect
I dont know what changed but your import of that lat and long is not correct according to Google (I even tried using Bing Maps) since the plugin is based on Google Maps , you need to correct the lat and long.
Try that and let me know how it works for you.
P.S is there a reason you haven’t updated your WP Plugins? The error messages I are many.

You must be logged in to view attached files.CiciKeymasterYou can also have a dropdown for city in the search form or have Widgets..there are a number of ways to do this, with widgets you can also have it open on another page that shows just that country.
When I searched your site with Belgium for the country and SPA for address I did not see any results. When I just searched Belgium without inputting a city in address field there were results but none appeared to be in SPA. If you have a properly formatted location with correct geocode for a location in Spa (I would check any of those locations in your locations management to make sure Google has the correct lat/long and you see the inset of the Map and it is correct)..then make sure your Settings/Results/radius to search is a large enough number, especially if you have selected a center map at that is international and you have many countries.
CiciKeymasterChristin, looking at your site I am seeing AJAX-Admin forbidden 403. It has been locked down on your site for security reasons, this can adversely effect how SLP runs, if an AJAX-php error stops loading parts of your site, there is no telling when the search will fire off or stop in its tracks. This can cause tons of plugins besides SLP to not work properly.
This might not be the issue in your case, but there are a lot of errors on your site and invalid DOM warnings.

You must be logged in to view attached files.CiciKeymasterHmm, Let me look into it , I had a similar question in the regular forum.
My versions of the Plugin and add-ons are current (4.9 and higher) so Im not sure how to go about testing with your versions.
Are you using the categories functionality at all? Or just countries?
We are aware that people were hesitant about updating WP and plugins,wp changed the way data queries were handled. Also if you update WP you will probably need to update Woocommerce etc.
I did see some errors on your site page when viewing with the developer tool in Chrome
Is the site url you provided a dev site?
