CiciKeymaster
Try this in the meantime, I had same issue with Australia….if you only have locations in the one country, here are two methods I used in the interim as workaround:
Set the Google Map domain to Austria , in my test trial for Australia I needed to set the Google MAP domain to Australia since the append feature wasn’t working. Of course Google is fickle, they have changed their map search for third parties algorithms so many times it seems impossible to keep up with the work arounds. Thank you again fro your attention to these types of issues. BTW the developer is asking questions of developers concerning potential other Platforms in an effort to keep his other project MYSLP SaaS relevant to meet a wider audience. If you see an email about this from support they would really appreciate a few seconds of your time.
CiciKeymasterFunny you should mention this because I have just been testing the Append issue as a follow up to another customer and reported it to Lance. I checked the debugger and he checked his dev site. Somehow that functionality was dropped with EXP add-on. He just replied to me a few seconds ago that he is fixing in next EXP release. The EXP pre-release beta version is now 4.8.2 so I’m sure he will be asking me to help test 4.8.3 beta version. If you have a dev or staging site and wish to help us test, please send support an email and we will get you hooked up and you may be eligible for a discount on products.
CiciKeymasterYes that feature will work on the browsers we have tested. Chrome was the one browser that required SSL so you should be good to go.
If you were using ProPack and updated SLP to v 4.8, ProPack will bot be enabled.
Please refer to Location sensor docs and the Power add-on functionality.
CiciKeymasterHi Travis
Did you update to Power 4.8? There was a bug with tags discovered by one of our Premier customers who was using similar process as what you had described and it is fixed in the next release undergoing testing now version 4.8.2.
Currently versions 4.8.2 in beta testing for Power, SLP, Premier and experience add-on are undergoing testing so that they can be released for Production this week
If you have a staging or dev site could you upload the Pre release beta versions and see if that fixes your problems? Lance needs as many people as possible to assist in testing these updates. I can offer you a discount for another add-on if you could assist us in testing. Send an email to customer support referencing this forum post for access to the pre releases if you do not see them under your account ad to discuss the availability of a coupon for thanks for your assistance.
Thanks for getting back to me .
CiciKeymasterAre you referring to Location sensor? The Location sensor is also dependent on your site security and browser used.
Power add-on includes the functionality .
P.S. ProPack is not supported with SLP version 4.8
CiciKeymasterThe developer has fixed and posted about this issues.
https://www.storelocatorplus.com/experience-hide-map-with-starting-image/
To re-download the style go to Store Locator Plus (Advanced Options for MySLP users) | Settings | View and select a different style than you are using now. Then re-select the style you are using to force a download of the latest settings and CSS styles.
CiciKeymasterIf you read the SLP changelog before you updated you would see that the add-ons you referenced are LEGACY and will not work with SLP version 4.8. The announcements regarding the change from Legacy add-ons to new optional add-ons have been made over the past 18 months. The last stand alone hold out was ProPack, which has been in Legacy status starting 2017 and which is no longer compatible with SLP version 4.8. Te other Enhanced series were phased out in 2016. You may opt to downgrade SLP core plug-in or replace the outdated add-ons. To stay current with changes you should read the News releases, follow us on Twitter, facebook or refer to the details and changelogs before updating.
Following Best Practice for maintaining your site , always BACK-UP before upgrading any plugins or WP. Refer to our documentation site FAQ disabling add-ons
To see the conversion please refer to the documentation.
CiciKeymasterP.S. make sure your image is saved in an accessible html folder
CiciKeymasterHi J-
I just changed the plugin style to light as air on our new test site. Checked off image until search. Using SLP custom theme image until search worked. Using WP Twenty sixteen theme with SLP Plugin style Light as Air, Image until search worked.
I then went to my own site, did the same, selected light as air and all worked as expected. I am wondering if it is a conflict with your theme , css, or caching.
Perhaps there is some leftovers in your cache or some other conflict in your staging site.
I cannot replicate your issue.
If you need the developer to look into your site, you can check off a paid support option and he can look into your specific issue.
CiciKeymasterUse your browser developer tools and you will see the error message
You Are using Multiple Google MAP APIS on that page. Google APIS are determined by your domain when you register them.
In addition you have two other Google MAP API warnings on that page that indicate you have another plugin or it is embedded in your theme….using Google MAP API . We know this because of the The warning “Sensor not required”. SLP has not had this warning in ages. Therefore something on your site is messing with SLP.
You need to follow the troubleshooting suggestions, turning your plugins off one by one and/or check your theme.
Use developer tools to see the errors. Also you have a drop down for Countries but that doesn’t mean only that country is going to show up, your default radius in the back end needs to be very large if you want the search to return anywhere in the world. You are not using the SLP Widget correctly. The Widget is meant to redirect to a separate page indicated by the url you entered
July 13, 2017 at 10:17 AM in reply to: Non-functioning shortcode displays when hide_search_form is set to true #46561CiciKeymasterThere is an update to Power and Experience pending (versions 4.8.++) There was an issue discovered with the Power add-on and tags. If you have a staging site, dev site, or virtual site and wish to assist us with testing you can download the pre-release versions of the add-ons for testing purposes only. However, if not please check back later this week for the version updates. (Do not use the beta pre-releases on a live production website)
P.S. As an aside, since you already have both the Experience and Power add-ons, have you considered upgrading to the Premier subscription. If your add-on purchases were made within the past 30 days the sign up fee would be waived. If made within the past 90 days (or within the past year) a coupon towards the sign-up fee could be offered (at the discretion of the owner.) Premier subscribers have additional features, first tier support, access to the slack channel where they can see the developers development notes, chat with the developer and support team and more.
CiciKeymasterProPack is not compatible with SLP 4.8. ProPack is automatically disabled when you upgrade SLP to 4.8. This was done to prevent your site from crashing.
There will be no further updates to Legacy add-ons. They will no longer be supported. Please refer to the documentation about your options, about the Power add-on, and/or upgrading or downgrading SLP. Your options are to buy Power add-on which was released over a year ago and is currently on version 4.8.
Announcements concerning the Legacy add-ons, various updates, the direction of SLP, and new smart options for the base plugin were made over the past 18 months.
See info concerning the above in the documentation site and follow us on Twitter, Facebook or the News posts.
CiciKeymasterCheck out some of the CSS rules if your theme is preventing this. I will ask the developer if he has any other suggestions but as mentioned we cannot log into your account
CiciKeymasterHave you tried a different Plugin style under View, you did not mention what you are using?
It works on my test site when I used the SLP gallery style “ice cream oreo frappe ” for instance. Image appears until search with our customized theme, see attached.
I also tested it using the standard WP TwentySixteen theme and it still worked the way intended showing the image I selected until I did a search.
We do not login to sites unless it is a special request from a premier customer that we customized the site. If you need the developer to login and troubleshoot for you, that would be a Paid support ticket.
CiciKeymasterYour theme and other components of your site are breaking your site. I cannot go into depth in this forum.
You need to do some troubleshooting , see this docs page.
If all else fails and you cannot manage and need more information you can request a paid support ticket but the developer cannot and , will not, fix your theme or other plugins, he will point you in the right direction. You cannot just “swap over” to SSL without having experience in the technical complexities associated with such endeavors, I hope had at least backed up the entire set before attempting this type of change.
CiciKeymasterAustralia always seems to be problematic for Google. Set your view to Worldview. You can try appending Australia or use a shortcode to append if that is the usual country that appears to be problematic on your site or use the country influenced guess or autocomplete zip.
As far as the other map running on a contact page, google API does not care about that. They specify one MAP API for the domain/IP.
You have 2 map applications installed and active on the site. The other plugin, or possibly map module in your theme, is calling Google Maps incorrectly and it is breaking the JavaScript engine. The new add/edit forms are 100% JavaScript based. If another script is misbehaving it can influence Store Locator Plus, especially if they are loading their script on the SLP admin pages (which well-designed plugins/themes will never do).
Start by disabling the other map application. If you still have an issue it may be something in your location data or possibly loading an older version of jQuery.
CiciKeymasterGoogle requires you to have a new google Map API, it considers the domain https as a new site, other then that I cannot advise you because you have not provided the information requested under the POSTING GUIDELINES which would include your Plugin environment and site url.
CiciKeymasterPlease provide your plugin environment which should show versions add-ons etc.
If you use an inspect browser tool you will see this fatal error message on the site.
js?language=en®ion=US&ver=4.8:96 You have included the Google Maps API multiple times on this page. This may cause unexpected errors.
Apparently another one of your plugins or the theme is also using the Google Map API,
Also you have your option set to options[map_region]:us
CiciKeymasterUpdate your versions to 4.8
Under Settings MAP, select Image until search, In the show Image box, add the url that points to the image from the media library in your WP, Choose one of the Plugin styles (scroll to see various styles, you may need to use a non gallery style) under view to get the best results.
CiciKeymasterLance will post it when its ready , check in the #talk-SLP Slack channel.
CiciKeymasterPete,
Patch in Power beta 4.8.1 should fix this issue. If no other patches needed and the beta release passes testing, Power 4.8.1 will be released next week. Thank you for identifying this issue
CiciKeymasterI guess I wasn’t clear enough. YES! IF you want to run with categories under the version SLP 4.8 that works best with WP version 4.8 then you need POWER version 4.8. Otherwise you can opt to downgrade your SLP to an old version that worked at the time you made your tagalong purchase whenever that was or just restore from your previous back-up. You have a back up of your site right?
The change over was announced over the past 18 months. No more support, updates, etc of ANY old legacy add-ons. If you do not see them for sale on our site now, that means they were discontinued.

July 7, 2017 at 12:34 PM in reply to: How to import locations with categories & tags using Power Plugin #46508CiciKeymasterYes importing and updating and creating categories on the fly is part of the Power add-on and it has been tested with version 4.8. I just double checked and imported a new location and new category, as well as imported in same file a new location with an existing category assigned. They imported correctly.
What site did you export from? Were you using an older Legacy add-on?
If you imported to a new site the sl_id will not have been established , therefore that column is not needed unless you have duplicates in your database already established and have an assigned sl_id. then you want to make sure the sl_id matches before updating them.
There is a quirk in some data sets that will require you to re-arrange the header row (first row) of the export file. Before importing your export file back in on your new site make sure you’ve checked that the headers have not shifted, that they have correct field names as things may have changed over time. read about duplicate handling and the column header sl_id.
CiciKeymasterNo, there are no products under the WordPress SLP with monthly charges. The SAAS MYSLP may be what you looked at.
The WordPress Store Locator Plus Power add-on is a one time purchase.
CiciKeymasterAlso make sure you have the discrete filter to just be Dropdown Discrete for the selector and assume you have set allow selector and address inPUT. It is difficult to advise you based on the various questions we have seen in the past. But that is where the setting is
