1) The latest news is always shown under the SLP INFO tab and the SLP social media connection is on bottom right of the page.
2) You have a Back up from someone like JetPack or Vault press right? we do not have access to anyone’s WPSLP sites nor their data . there is no way for us to assist with that If you were on MYSLP yes we could help since we manage the locator software and have access to our customers back end and we have backups ongoing.
The Power updated version to fix the import csv files has been published

Update: Lance hopes to have a patch to SLP and Power available this weekend. The patch will allow SLP users to import again without having to wait for WP version 5.03 or 5.1…check available versions this weekend and subscribe to the SLP news announcement.
CiciKeymasterKathleen,
Not sure why you were forced to update , unlike WordPress , Store Locator Plus NEVER auto updates. If you did update SLP to version 5.0, did you also update the Power add-on?
You have not provided enough information or acreenshot of your plugin environment for me to be able to see what versions you have. (see posting guidelines)
. The sidebar under StoreLocatorPlus would not show SEO Pages unless you have Enable Pages checked off, under general/Server. Perhaps that was reset, there was an issue with that in one of the previous versions.
Please refer to:
https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/enable-pages-setting/
Also some information about Manual vs auto updates and settings being undone. How to prevent this:

CiciKeymasterHahaha,,,,,well why didn’t they BREAK that stop gap measure of stacking the deck functionality? Thanks for the kudos.
Have a great holiday
CiciKeymasterI just tested append search on my test site and I had no issues with it. I used append Australia. I think the issue you are having is the use of United kingdom as your Append . It might not be specific enough. it is not recognized as ISO two letter region but GB is the ISO region
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1_alpha-2
It is just a guess, I am wondering if Google may have difficulty wt the append setting for a region as “United Kingdom” I am not sure if it is specific enough since United kingdom is more than one country.
You could try setting United Kingdom under the Google MAP domain. Maybe Google will have an easier time finding the locations in UK
You can test it out in demo site. We have added the beta version to the demo site.
If you want to run a test with SLP 5.0.1 and see if it fixes some of your specific stuff you can spin up a demo.

CiciKeymasterAndrew, sorry I though I answered this but something happened when I hit send and it appears not to have posted.
No that is not part of the SLP functionality. There was a third party addon that allowed users to manage locations but that author stopped maintaining and updating and it eventually became obsolete and not compatible with versions above 4.8. We had to pull if off the product list. I am sure you could tweak roles permissions in WordPress, but it wouldn’t be out of the box specific to a subset of the SLP plugin functionality. Sorry.
CiciKeymasterI sent you an answer via email and sent you some errors I saw on your site, No idea why you couldn’t post a new post, but who knows. Anything could be happening with all of WordPress crazy updates. Hope the suggestions provided points you in right direction.
CiciKeymasterDavid,
Thanks so much for kudos, I have passed on to Lance, He is hoping to have a patch done this weekend. If you would be so kind as to leave a review for us (hoping it is five stars!) ★★★★★ rating on WordPress.org . Higher ratings improves our site presence and positive site presence allows us to continue to improve. If you do not feel the plug-in warrants at least a 4 or 5 star rating, please reach out to us via the form in the Contact Us, link and let us know how we can improve.
🙂
December 20, 2018 at 3:50 PM in reply to: csv – Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reason #58188CiciKeymasterHi Ted,
well WordPress has auto updated yet again, fixing 73 errors!. They auto updated everyone to 5.02. Our read into the reported bugs that effect uploads and imports indicates they will fix the Broken “wont recognize text/plain and will limit text/csv type files pending WP 5.03. No ETA of when that will happen.
Here is the core tracker
https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/45615
Now it appears that their auto update version 5.02 has broken the way WooCommerce displays orders and dates. If WP latest update broke WooCommerce further there will be a LOT of very irate customers . 5.0.2 update fixes
CiciKeymasterDid you also get the Google Geocoder key? https://www.storelocatorplus.com/wordpress-store-locator-plus-google-api-key/
When I go to the first url and use Browser tools/inspect/console the following errors come back. I have no idea what a Google tag manager is. Also, You need to debug your site, I am guessing that using version 4.4 .17 of WordPress , perhaps you have some plugin or theme using outdated jquery or breakingSLP.

CiciKeymasterDo you have a Staging or dev site to test it on?
We will not release untested versions to customers who do not have full back ups, and a dev site or test site or staging site. If you do have those you can write in to support and provide all the info including the test or dev site you are planning on loading it on.
CiciKeymasterDo you have the experience add-on?
See documentation

CiciKeymasterBarbara, thanks for reporting back. Google is constantly changing algorithms. They also do not use the same algorithms for third party Maps APIS as they do in their commercial maps, They say it is “proprietary”. ( interesting since GPS and lats longs are available through the US govt census geocoder… )like anything, the interface to make it usable is what matters.
I would be surprised if Google changed anything that quickly because of one report , but hey its good to let them know, maybe they were getting a lot of people complaining , or maybe now that they have monetized map views and geocoding by requiring a credit card and an account for your API key they are more responsive!
good for you in reporting it as a user!
P.S, if you think I provided you five star support and could leave a positive review on the WPSLP review I would appreciate it
CiciKeymasterDoes that one work? Maybe I pasted it wrong
CiciKeymasterCiciKeymasterWell, unfortunately , ,,,I cannot give you a precise ETA. The developer is down the rabbit hole trying to handle the WordPress security patch and auto update to 4.9.9 that broke thousand of plugins and even some WooCommerce functionality . import functionality ,( effects our SLP Powert addon) , some media uploads, which is a whole different issue at the moment but it is taking precedence for fixes (Power and SLP) at the moment…add in the holidays and family commitments and I cannot provide a precise date. There are pre releases of EXP 5.0. beta 2 available for our premier customers to test on their dev sites but it has not been thorighly tested as yet and not published for production sites,
.

CiciKeymasterWordPress broke any site that did not have special configuration to actually prevent them from “auto” updating fixing anything…the “security patch” that WordfPress forced on everyone was actually 4.9.99 and the developers got a notice after the fact as a “breaking version” In other words WP knew it was going to break plugins and sites but said it was a security patch.
Our developer and plugin author has written a few articles and also a work around.
Your plugin environment is showing that you got the WP auto update to 4.9.9
WooCommerce has also reported the issue in their git hub
https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/22208

CiciKeymasterPlease read the BEFORE POSTING GUIDELINES
as you see by the post that you glommed onto, David fixed his issue. Since you and I do not know his site configuration, all the plugins he is using, the theme, all the various settings, the Google API version or keys he may have, if he has restrictions on his key, if you have Referrer restrictions on your Google MAS Javascript key, if you have the right key in the right place, if your account with Google is set up differently, if your SLP or WP settings are different, if you have a child theme or non WP theme, if you have a plugin that is breaking Javascript…etc etc etc…..There is no way for you to be able to say me too without providing all the information, including a screenshot of your plugin info.
Please read the Posting guidelines and start a NEW POST....It will also spare David from all the back and forth notifications about this forum topic which I am sure he does not want to see since as he said, he fixed the error he was having.

Lance has written an extensive article and a work around (for experienced developers or site administrators to try . Please make sure if you follow the work around you have the required admin tools and knowledge before attempting..
Hope it works out and that WP gets on the ball. You should also write to WordPress, the squeaky wheel, we are hoping that the more people who complain to them about there craziness the better and quicker for them to thoroughly test and get it right before they auto update 3 million sites.
https://www.storelocatorplus.com/wordpress-4-9-9-file-type-not-permitted-workaround/
CiciKeymasterOne other suggestion, double check the address lat and long in the back end, and see if changing it slightly and resaving it fixes the issue, I have found that it sometimes willl”reset” the google look up. I would find the lat long on any other then google for starters and fine tune it to the exact location as needed
https://www.latlong.net/place/victoria-bc-canada-4300.html
tweak it that way, it is worth a shot , hope it works for you.
December 18, 2018 at 5:20 PM in reply to: csv – Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reason #58142CiciKeymasterWordPress has introduced a major bug and defect. The core tracker has this report as a bug and it is effecting a LOT of people and a lot of Plugins…WP has it in for bug fix I guess,,,but not until version 5.03
CiciKeymasterOk I was just going to say I visited your site and tyed in 29464 and it came back
BUT…you may end up having an issue down the road with your security no SSL ceet? not htps?
Chrome…amd Google will not allow location sensor to work if site isnt secure.
And as far as WP 4.99….%$*^%( UP Word Press with their security patch, the Bug and defect tickets in the CORE tracker are mounting. WordPress update broke a ton of plugins and addons and themes. One of our addons allows people to import a text csv file to add hundreds or even thousands of locations at a time and WordPress update rendered those files as now not autgorized. people are going ballistic.
So yeah, stupid google and lots of other big companies. The developer rolled out his own software subscription service to be used across many platforms , including WordPress, and he did not update to 4.9.99 so that MYSLP service is working great!
