Could you provide a screenshot of your Plugin environment? (see Posting guidelines)
I am unclear exactly what you are trying to do Do you want just categories to show up as part if the normal results along with all the other info or are you also looking for the legend?
Did you check off under Categories Manager Show Icon array?
Are you using default markers or the Category markers you assigned under the taxonomy/Category Manager panel?
As far as where the category shows up in results, which add-ons are you using? Are you using Experience Add-on or Enhanced results where you can change the results layout and appearance? You would not use Hide Unpublished unless you have categories incorporated with Pages.
CiciKeymasterSteve , SLP is a free plugin, you did not need to purchase it.
CiciKeymasterSteve if you are no longer using SLP , you can disengage forum responses.
CiciKeymasterVersion 4.6.1 Your German Language files have been included in the latest release 4.6.1
The Base core plugin uses the WP translation.
Thanks for your help! If there are any issues with the translation please start a new thread as I am closing this one.
CiciKeymasterRead the Experience Add-on description and documentation to see what changes were made. You can request a coupon at the end of the Hosting survey if you choose to take that survey. Home page, in footer under premium members.
Most software does not stay stagnant for 2 years. There have been many many updates and version releases over the past two years. For instance, there was a required update because of the WP update that changed the way the language translations were handled. SLP stays current with the latest WP updates. See the changelog about the 4.6 releases under Info and News
September 11, 2016 at 8:54 AM in reply to: Store Locator Plus not working after plugin upgrade #43124CiciKeymasterThe hosting survey link is in my above answer and in the footer at the bottom of the Store locator Plus home page., under Premier members (it is still open to the general community at this time) ..
No we cannot support an old version of SLP for one customer. We have provided instructions on how to downgrade in Troubleshooting. go to the WordPress directory Store locator Plus plugin .Note: it is not recommended to downgrade , any security fixes that occurred will not be present, and depending on what version of WP they are running now as compared to before , we cannot guarantee compatibility . I do not know what version they “used to have” before upgrading so cannot advise you there. But the free SLP is maintained at the current version by the author/devloper.* The release info for 4.6 of the base plugin and add-ons here.
* one person is doing all the coding and bug fixes (see Posting guidelines) , I contribute a few hours as needed in support forums only.
Note: They, or you as their intermediary, should always have a back up of your site. If having a web presence is important to them as a business they should opt to pay the $8 a month or whatever the going rate is for one of many back-up services offered. You can research recommended back up on WordPress . WP recommends backing up as best practice before updating their version upgrades as well
They (or you) can purchase the Enhanced Results Legacy VERSION 4.3.02 FOR $65 if they do not want to spring for the Experience or Power add-ons at this time. If they or you decide to upgrade to Experience a coupon can be requested and applied as long as not too much time has gone by.
CiciKeymasterSee sample csv examples heres in that documentation
You are correct, if you delete and then reload via importing, new sl_ids will be assigned. There is also the ability with the Power Add-on to assign your OWN Identifier (read CSV Duplicate updateshandling under the docs) so that you do not have to guess or look up the sl_id assigned number. The Identifier is part of the extended data. In other words it is not the same field heade as sl_id….it is header name identifier. That is something to keep in mind.

CiciKeymasterto better assist you , please provide your plugin environment per posting guidelines
what are you trying to show us here?
Refer to the documentation. for guidance on how to set up your page to display your map.
The Troubleshooting Guide also provides tips
September 10, 2016 at 4:47 PM in reply to: Store Locator Plus not working after plugin upgrade #43111CiciKeymasterThe Enhanced add-ons needed to be upgraded to be compatible with SLP 4.xx of anything back a a few years ago if I recall..So .yes you would need to purchase a new one. The Experience Add-on replaces all the legacy Enhanced Products as well as Widgets and is version 4.6.
If you take the Hosting Survey you can request a coupon code towards it,. You can purchase ER but it is Legacy. It does work with the current version of SLP but will not be updated beyond the version it is now.
CiciKeymasterYou can chat Lance in Slack. As you know he is the brains and can explain it better than I, Google confuses the hell out of everyone with all their schematics and APIs and “payment plans”.
if you search in the support for Gmaps-API Maps Issues javascript the issue was reported at least as far back as June 2015. (I see that you added your two cents worth in support as well.) If you read through some of the suggestions, Google says “remove your restrictions and then are you able to …blah blah…” Well yeah, we know that . One of the users states they have a paid API to see if that would help. nope of course not. Lance is going to be brainstorming about this though so definitely Slack him. 🙂
CiciKeymasterP.S. Our test with SLP 4.6.1 and ENHANCED SEARCH 4.3.03 we can still seethe drop down menu it still shows Radius behavior as “Do not use”, “always use” and “use on search”, etc., so you might have something else going on, it is under EXPERIENCE/SEARCH…RADIUS BEHAVIOR
It may have shown you check boxes before.
But I just noticed you are using a different language, French? We are using the English version and everything works EXACTLY the same as before, You may need to translate the Radius behavior tab , we are not updating the old add-on translation files. WP and WPML changed the way translation files were loaded and are now using gettext
Find out how to contribute to translations, etc
Countries and Languages and Updates
If you wish to contribute by translating the Experience Add-on please contact support to see if the French version is already translated. That may be a way for you to get the upgrade you need.
CiciKeymasterYou can roll back your SLP version from your back-up files to the version of SLP plugin at the time you purchased your add-ons.
If you do not have a back up of your site and wish to downgrade SLP go to this link
We cannot reverse engineer Store Locator Plus to work with outdated add-ons.
SLP prefers to move forward same as WordPress does. The developer cannot keep every single version of 20 add-ons working with outdated code so he made the decision to move forward for improvement of the product. (article about future updates ) As always you can request a coupon to off set your cost.
Option is to upgrade to Power or Experience Add-ons, and request a discount by taking the hosting survey.
CiciKeymasterThe developer also has been experimenting with the Big Map Rev01 and it does not work with the current version of WP . It was originally designed a couple of years ago and customized for customers who built their own theme using the SLP Big Map plugin style as a basis.
It is a template for styling that you would have to know and apply CSS to get it to work with WP 4.5 or higher and the theme you may be using.
The developer is looking to replace this plug in style with something that works similar to this but that is on the back burner. He left it as a plugin style choice because there are a few customers who have built their own site and customized theme and uses it.
You can try one of the other plugin styles and if you know CSS modify them with the Experience add-on. Sorry that this does not work the way it originally worked.
There are some You tube tutorials on the CSS process
CiciKeymasterYou cannot import directly from an excel file, It must be converted to a csv file which is a simple save as csv,, the data field headers are shown in the documentation (csv file, location imports etc) The Power add-on imports faster.
We always suggest using Google sheets upload the excel file, fix it in there and then use that to download as a csv file since Microsoft seems to have issues with converting text to numbers and dropping leading zeroes for instance.
You can send the file to us at support@storelocatorplus.com
As far as Clearing up the locations they currently have , there is a bulk actions they can delete all locations but if they have over 1000 it may be time consuming depending on how many you are able to display on a page. (you would want to change the display back to a reasonable amount once done) Since they dont have the Power add-on I do not know if they have the APPLY ALL button to delete,
-or-
you can use Janitor /tools
Click on Clear locations.
Janitor is a free add-on
It won’t “reset” , they should delete the incorrect locations, but, since I do not know what the “MESS” is I cannot advise you. If you or they need someone to log on their site, there is an option in the Paid Support. That is over and above the free support I can provide here.
September 8, 2016 at 7:44 PM in reply to: Store Locator Plus not working after plugin upgrade #43080CiciKeymasterEnhanced ??? version 0.8?? That is not compatible with any of the current SLP See troubleshooting section “CHECK YOUR ADD_ONS
That version is an antique and would not work with SLP 4.6, actually wouldnt work with SLP 4.xx anything and could make your site crash, try deleting it and updating to a current version that is supported.
Please provide a screenshot of your plugin environment,
We have never had this reported and cannot replicate it.
See Troubleshooting guide ,
It will guide you through the debugging WordPress steps
We ask that you provide a screenshot so we can see MYSQL, PHP, add-on versions (make sure that version you typed isnt a typo a typo) etc.
If you wish to have a developer Log on and troubleshoot your site that is a paid support option. If SLP were making everyone’s WordPress sites go down we would be hearing about it from ten thousand users. Therefore I can only surmise it is something unique in your configuration or a conflict with another Plugin or theme.
CiciKeymasterStating you have latest releases does not provide me the information I need to assist you. Often times people think they have the latest release but do not. Always check the versions. . Read what is meant by PLUGIN ENVIRONMENT. Under Info Tab, Plugin environment will show you releases, your PHP, versions add-ons.
The changes in the Radius behavior was updated with SLP 4.5.08 and the Experience Add-on (see documentation)
P.S. ProPack and all Enhanced add-ons are legacy and will not be updated. See FAQ to compare newer add-on that replaces them.
As far as detecting your location that has nothing to do with detecting your location that is part of the location sensor. So me browsers do not ask if you want your location shared. Google Chrome browser updated this with version 50, Unless your site is https (secure) they will nto allow your location to be shared. This is also happening now with some versions of Safari
Read about location sensor in our documentation
Also read Googles description of the same.
“Geolocation refers to the identification of the geographic location of a user or computing device via a variety of data collection mechanisms. Typically, most geolocation services use network routing addresses or internal GPS devices to determine this location. Geolocation is a device-specific API. This means that browsers or devices must support geolocation in order to use it through web applications.”
CiciKeymasterHi Shad,
I reviewed articles and the Developers console in Google and there have been no recent changes that we are aware of. I saw a post in stack overflow about this same error message. When I relayed it to lance he said he knew exactly what the issue is and Google knows about this issue,….Did you check off the Options
See the screen shot in the Getting Started Google API keys
In the screenshot under Step 3, see where the arrow points to leave this blank…it is the restriction for certain domains or IP addresses…Leave it blank or you will get the error message. Lance did the same thing.
I did read a techie article about this, I have sent it to Lance.
(It isnt really a work around for most people. )
The quickest way of resolving this is simply to remove the domain restriction and wait 5 minutes for Google’s servers to catch up. This is not ideal or secure since it opens up your key to quota thieves.”
https://www.igorkromin.net/index.php/2016/08/09/why-browser-api-keys-cannot-have-referer-restrictions-when-used-with-this-api-error-happens/September 7, 2016 at 3:13 PM in reply to: Restrict search to a country, to avoid postcode mismatch #43054CiciKeymasterI am looking at their demo, and they are using the autocomplete generated by Googls map location sensor which is based on where your visitor is physically located. For instance , all my results are coming back with guesses around my location or in my country only , not by zip code , so anyone not in your local area will not get the right response . I typed in your example of a postal code 1359 and it showed me Canton Ohio. If I type in 1359 Norway, I get addresses with 1359 Norway in their street names in US. eventually I get one in the country of Norway.
The SLP Autocomplete Google “influenced guesses” is based on what is actually in your databases for starters and other options as tertiary. The Append feature doesn’t care where the person is physically located it will always go to the country you appended . if all your site visitors are going to be physically located in Norway then it might work out for you after all. WP locator makes you pay for yearly licenses and support. They are just taking a different approach. and if your site is not too complex it should work
best of luck. And you are always welcome to come back, or try the new MYSLP which can be used on any platform not just WP.

September 7, 2016 at 2:44 PM in reply to: Restrict search to a country, to avoid postcode mismatch #43052CiciKeymasterThanks for letting us know so the developer can see what they are doing to get around the restrictions!
CiciKeymasterPlease provide your Plugin Environment, see Posting Guidelines
September 7, 2016 at 2:34 PM in reply to: Store Locator Plus not working after plugin upgrade #43050CiciKeymasterPlease provide your Plugin Environment. I do not know what versions you are referring to. See Posting Guidelines
2) Troubleshooting, if you recently updated you may have another plugin or theme that was not updated to use jquery 1.12 thus causing a conflict
3) This is NOT our shortcode….[STORE-LOCATOR]
our shortcode is [SLPLUS] if you have Store Locator installed you need to post in their forum.
4) I see another shortcode on your web site that is not displaying…
[DISPLAY_ULTIMATE_PLUS]Something is disabling your short codes….I do not know what and I do not know if you have something else installed or what the situation is..i.e. .if you skipped a lot of updates and/or have outdated add-ons.CiciKeymaster1) Questions about the Gravity Form add-ons by De-Baat and his other add-ons need to be posted on his Third Party Forums
2) The fields to use as filters for search, depends on what you want to add. You can add search by Name, search by address etc etc with Enhanced Search or Experience Add-on. See discrete search docs
That is another De-baat question and needs to be posted in hos forum.
CiciKeymasterThat is correct. I would save your css on a local drive as well just to be safe. Make sure you have backed up your site before any major changes per the WordPress recommended best practices.
September 7, 2016 at 12:55 PM in reply to: Restrict search to a country, to avoid postcode mismatch #43042CiciKeymasteras explained,
Store Locator Plus (and no other WP Locator we know of , …we would love to use optional maps service like Bing) Do not go out and search multiple Map services, They use google…
we do not determine where your query goes other than, it goes to the Google MAP domain server, that you have named, in your case Norway. Google determines where in the world that zip code or query is,not us
Your issue is with Google and unfortunately your issue is not unique. This is why the developer spent countless developer coding hours to provide as many cheats to get the right coordinates and locations to come back. Developers for any WordPress Plug-in have PAID premium add-ons. If they did not have to re-create the wheel it would be one thing. But this is not a hobby. Those developers abandon their plugins. You are welcome to write some javascript and code to get around your issue…it is open source after all.
In short, SLP does not :Break” the search query or returns” , but since Google sucks at accuracy in returning correct results add-ons were developed to compensate.
If you find another free Locator plug in that works better , please let us know so we can look at their coding and see how they are compensating…after all, it is open source.
You can report your specific issue to the Google Developers , they seem to like to send people to Czech as a default, maybe that is the middle of the world using their mathematical algorithms…who knows,
Looking in the Google Developers support threads for instance, one developer reports that entering and using the map domain for CR (costa rica) lands them in Czech as well.
Another that uses NL map domain which is Netherlands, sends them to ZA, South Africa.
Feel free to contact Google and/or see if your issue is listed in the links provided below and add your complaint to the list
support threads and bugs reported under the Google developers console about the Google MAP API about
returning incorrect locations. You can click on any of the support threads and see that some of the bugs were reported to Google over a year ago….they choose not to fix them or say “Need more info”
We happen to know that Google uses miscommunication of locations on purpose for the API , They use different algorithms (they told us it was proprietary) from their commercial Google MAPS (that have ads galore and preferred lisitngs) than what they allow for use by developers MAPS API
CiciKeymasterHave you updated WP to 4.6? (shouldnt need to for SLP 4.6 to work but it is preferable)
Did you delete the existing versions of those add-ons from your Plugins first?
I downloaded and then uploaded into my test site with no issues (Experience add-on) and it seem to be the right version.
For the other add-ons such as the Third Party add-ons
Try going to Products/Download tab on the menu from your account. That will show you all the downloads available to you both Production and Pre release.
Power should disable TAGALONG, PROPACk, PAGES.
You must first download the Store locator plus to 4.6
GFL and GFI version 4.6 are in pre release. GFI will be disabled with SLP version 4.6 so if you could test those out on your dev site that would be great (and let us know if any issues)
