    Hi Cici

I got the Beta plugins, installed them on a staging site, and the labels on the Power fields look great. I still am waiting to hear which records I can test the delete function on, but for now I installed them on our live site!

It was the same thing in Chrome too.

    Thanks

Cici (it’s Mick again, I sign in as Amanda to make these posts)

Sounds like you guys got on it right away.

In case you still need to know what I meant, Basically with the Power add-on, you can use ‘extended data fields’ it adds more fields to each location. In the Inspector portion of my screenshot you can see the Id’s and input names that mention what those fields are, like for example “facility_type”. There are a number of these that Power adds on. But in the backend as you noticed, they have no labels to identoifu them so it;s hard to edit those data for the location.

    Thank you!

Cici, in the Results listing under the map, showing our locations, I need to be able to show the categories associated with that location. I haven’t been able to find a shortcode for the categories. Is that possible?

Well we bought the new SLP plugin, but it didn’t save my settings, which is frustrating. Anyway, I guess we solved the problem of updating for now.

    Hi Cici

I just hit this same problem, actually my client ran automatic updates including the base SLP and now I can’t activate Power and Experience. When I go to my account I only see downloads for Power and Experience but not the SLP plugin itself. Where can I get the newest version of SLP through my account? Do I have to buy that for $25 now? in the past that was never the case.

Hi Cici, been swamped with other work. I removed all the sl_id column values, and will see whether that affects our ability to auto-update. Meanwhile I will email the current spreadsheet, it’s all up to date with locations.

yes, per the recommendations, we have a CSV saved as a Google doc, publicly available by link, that’s the one that should do a scheduled update. When I do it manually I just use the upload button, but want my client to be able to just update the CSV in google doc.

This site is the production site. I will get the updates to Power and Experience done today.

Changes are made directly to the google sheet, and saved (not renamed or saved new).
I have had Duplicates set to Update so far all along.
In some cases, there are a couple new locations along with an update to existing, so the changes can be ‘mixed’.
Because at one point, I had downloaded the SLP csv and used that as a starting point for our updating one, there are sl_id numbers in the columns. Maybe we need to get rid of those so the auto-updating file has no id’s.

HI cici, sorry for the delay. I got pulled away last week on some other projects. here is the plugin environment:

The whole CSV only has 500 locations, which doesn’t seem huge, most are already geocoded, and I have had it set to skip geocoding for a while already. I told my client to just run the geocoding herself once in a while after it imports. I don’t think the limits are on Google’s side. It is both updating existing locations, and sometimes adding new ones (like 3 or 4 at a time). I’ve looked at that post, and can investigate our PHP/server settings, but with only 500 locations, and changes of only on the order of 3-5 at a time, should that even be an issue?

I ran an update just fine manually from the same file, and it added the new locations no problem and very quickly. It’s only the daily scheduled ones that don’t seem to work. Thanks.

Hi Cici, sorry to bring this up again.
I have a remote file, it is accessible to anyone with the link. I have set up daily sync to that file. When my client makes changes they don’t reflect in the locations. I let it go over a few day-cycles, and also just set the daily import time to something that is a minute or two ahead of current time to test. I made sure to visit the site a bunch to make sure it was triggering the cron.
here’s a snapshot of the file, with two new locations: https://www.screencast.com/t/kqLstidTg
here’s the setting for remote file: https://www.screencast.com/t/1oQhqrPYwlBt
Here’s the locations list, in reverse order so you can see newest at the top… it stops at #511: https://www.screencast.com/t/to8toS5F
Let me know your thoughts, or whether you need admin login to check. Thanks

Just to follow up, I changed the settings of that file so that anyone with the link can view it, and that solved the problem. I thought that’s how it would be before, but it turns out it was restricted to specific people.
    Thanks again.

Cici. I believe the issue is the ‘public’ link. I thought by getting the ‘share link’ from google docs, that that would be public, but I see now that it requires login, and so that’s likely the issue.
Here’s the environment to be thorough, but I believe that is what is going on. Thanks for the reply.

    Hi Cici
Thanks for the note. I did download and install the new Power, but still my remote file retrieval settings won’t ‘stick’. I’m putting it in like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/wuiL1QkEq using the ‘sharable link’ for the Google doc (also tried with just the URL in my address bar). And if I click to another settings page and come back, it’s cleared out: https://www.screencast.com/t/ZCjwUp2vqJ. Using the shareable link made it so that the time and schedule stayed (those didn’t before), but the file seems to be cleared out. Maybe it saves the file URL but doesn’t display it? I can’t tell whether this will run or not…

Thanks for the reply, Cici. In this case, we never had used the remote file retrieval yet, I’ve only done the updates manually so far. The thing I’m concerned about is not that it didn’t happen yet, but that the fields that hold the file URL, and the settings and time, do not stay populated, making me think it is not going to run on a daily schedule. I can’t see how to save the information in those fields.

    Cici
quick question. In the output of my results, the Tags get a <br> placed in front of the div, it must come from within the shortcode. I have it like this in my Results settings: <span class=”slp_result_tags_title”>Ages Served: [slp_location pro_tags]</span>, it outputs this: https://www.screencast.com/t/K08cGWwCDaQm. This is the page: http://www.hydroassoc.org/physicians-directory/
I could probably remove it with javascript, but it’d be nice to do it from the source. Where is that shortcode so I can edit it?
    thanks

Hi Cici, thanks for your quick reply. Apologies, I was hasty in my forum post. The log was turned on, and it did list the notes in the headers, and in fact it did import the notes. I think the problem was my clients didn’t see it on the front end, and that’s my fault I didn’t put the notes in the HTML output for the front end display. I hadn’t looked in the Locations list far enough right to see the notes there (they don’t exist for all records, so I had to look for some).

Thanks again, looks like it all worked properly after all.

Thanks @Cici. Radio buttons won’t work the same as checkboxes… they are also exclusive (you can’t check more than one radio button), so it’s not really different than a drop-down. Even as a drop-down, it was working sometimes with the tags and categories together, just that sometimes it didn’t and I couldn’t figure out why. We do have the Experience add-on, but not the Premier.

In the end, I’ll talk this over with the clients and test it with the real data, so far I am just running tests… checkboxes are the preferred solution, then we would not need to fuss with Tags at all- all the age ranges, and specialties could be Categories and they could be additive to filter further down.

I’d be happy to change the output of the category list if you can point me to the file that has that- I haven’t been able to find the category HTML output in the plugin files.

    Thanks

@Cici- I don’t need a hierarchy of parent/child relationships, just additive categories so they are not exclusive. If the categories are output to checkboxes instead of a drop-down, as I have seen with other store locator plugins, then you could check off whichever combination you wanted, like “Pediatric” and “Neurologist”, or just “Pediatric”, or “Pediatric” and “Neurologist” and “Neurosurgeon”, etc. As it is, you can only select one category so we will have to create a long list of all the combinations.

    @Cici

Sorry, I thought I had pasted the URL before… http://www.hydroassoc.org/physicians-directory-test/ password is ‘slp’.

The problem for my client is they need to filter by more than one criterion, and you have only a drop-down (no checkbox selector for example). So they would have to create categories for all the combinations of selectors. A checkbox would be very nice, and I believe other people have asked for that but I don’t know what the progress on that is. So I was trying to use Tags and Categories to create a kind of hacked way of having two selectors.

    @Cici-

I never got that error, the site URL never changed, and in fact certain searches work fine, so I don’t think it’s the Google API key. That page was a ‘draft’ so that may have affected your view of it. I’ve changed the page to public now, so you can see. I don’t see any errors when I check the console.

Basically the same problem exists, I’ve updated everything (environment below). To recap: I have a location that is Categorized both as Neurologist, and Neurosurgeon, and tagged as Pediatric. When I search for Pediatric Neurolosurgeon, she comes up fine, when I search Pediatric and Neurologist she does not.

I have the same or similar problem… I have  test location where I have assigned 2 categories (Neurologist, Neurosurgeon) and a Tag (Pediatric). When I put in a zip code near her, and select Pediatric and Neurosurgeon, she comes up as a location. When I change to Neurologist, she does not, even though she is categorized as both. I have upgraded to Power 4.7.10.

Here is her Location entry with Tags and Categories: https://www.screencast.com/t/3xz9ToRPTH5D
Here is the front end result in the first case: https://www.screencast.com/t/FqxhTPNM1
