    One other issue:

I have the ‘DC Super Heroes’ category loading by default, but it does not load the DC results by default? It loads all the stockists?

To see them, I have to first select ‘Zoggs Stockist’ category, hit search, then go back and select ‘DC Super Heroes’ category – and hit Search again, and then they display correctly in the results.

Just so you understand – all stockists are listed under the ‘Zoggs Stockist’ category, but only some of them are listed under the ‘DC Super Heroes’ category.

Not sure I undersatnd, is Dc a default you want to show, that can be obtained with a shortcode on your page only_with_category =

    See https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/slplus-shortcode-options/

Also check under the Settings/Results and make sure you have Show locations checked and disable initial directory until after search
    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/results-panel-settings/

Or did you would want to use the Single drop down settings if you have the Main parent category as Zoggs stocklist and designate others as child category.

If you want to define and have the choices be self aware, you may want to opt for checkbox button bar that is a new feature in Premier
    https://docs.storelocatorplus.com/blog/category-button-bar/

many other setting specific for categorization selections when using multi levels is part of the premier add-on. https://wp.storelocatorplus.com/product/premier-subscription/

I am not sure exactly how your set up is on your page or what you are looking for, hope these suggestions help
