Hi there,
This is further to this post: (now closed so had to start a new thread)
https://wp.storelocatorplus.com/forums/topic/locations-not-defaulting-to-base-country/#post-55495We have now purchased and installed the Experience plugin, as well as the Power plugin, to gain the Country selector.
Here is the page in question:
http://zoggs.com.au/stockists/If I select Australia, and the postcode ‘2000’ – it still gives the result for Mexico?
2000 is the postcode for Sydney.https://www.dropbox.com/s/h4512kgei9up2p4/Screenshot%202017-12-14%2019.33.52.png?dl=0
Surely by selecting the country and the postcode 2000, it should return results for Sydney, Australia?
Can you please suggest the correct settings to get this working correctly?
‘Discreet search’ was mentioned in previous thread, but can not see where this setting is?
However, we need to be able to search both Australia and New Zealand, so unsure whether 2 countries can be added? If so, how?
Using the latest versions of SLP, Power and Experience.
regards,
HowardDecember 14, 2017 at 11:54 AM #55543CiciKeymasterIt should work with the right settings, limiting radius in results in the back end .
which search isnt working? when I search by Product, or by country or by city I see correct results… you cannot have the widgets and drop downs for all the variables. Having the drop downs is there to replace the zip code search. You can use the dropdown for City, country etc and product. Force the customer to search by one of those instead of only by post code . You are not forcing your customer to search by Country so Google will continue to return results with ANY post code in the world that shares your Australian post codes. Perhaps less drop downs instead of all drop downs would be better so you are not creating too many variables to be returned.
If your customers are mostly based In Australia and New Zealand, be aware that since you do not have HTTPS, location sensor will not work. Additionally Google is now throwing warnings* to all sites warning them about their Symantec SSL certs. They are becoming very restrictive and searches using their services are going to be deprecated without the SSL certs. If you get the correct vakid SSL cert location sensor would work for them and eliminate the majority of your issues

*You are getting these warnings on your site because you have an insecure site.
slp_core.min.js?ver=4.9.2:1 [Deprecation] getCurrentPosition() and watchPosition() no longer work on insecure origins. To use this feature, you should consider switching your application to a secure origin, such as HTTPS.December 15, 2017 at 2:48 AM #55557HowardParticipantHi Cici
Thanks for your response
1. What is the ‘Initial search radius’ number a unit of? KMs?
2. What do you suggest here? Do I remove the search box or the drop downs, for this to work correctly?
3. How do I force customers to search by Country? All customers are based in AUS and NZ
December 15, 2017 at 12:39 PM #55573CiciKeymaster1) The initial search radius is whatever you are using whether it be km or mi as your default but under the Settings Search
2) Category and selector attributes:
Selector Behavior
Should the address input be disabled when city, state, or country selectors are used? Allow means address and city/state/zip selectors are both left active at all times. disable means users can interact with either the city/state/zip OR the address but not both at the same time.—I disable on my site so they have to choose
3) Country selector, discrete filter
You can hide city or state drop down and only have Country dropdownDecember 15, 2017 at 3:22 PM #55577CiciKeymasterI set up my country drop down and my category drop down here are some screenshots and a video. I selected a larger mile radius when searching because I have location sensor on and am in US and that particular map has center map at Charleston SC. Various settings shown, you can have any fir category, cascading or single, or you can leave first entry blank to have first category appear in drop down.

Thanks for the recommendations
I have now followed your settings advise and simplified the search fields:
https://zoggs.com.au/stockists/
I now also have the SSL site force loading, so it seems to be now working wit the Google API.
However, I did notice since activating the forced SSL, the SLP icons are no longer appearing on the map or in the search results?

December 18, 2017 at 12:36 PM #55616CiciKeymasterIn the future could you post separate topics with your Plugin information? The topic here was showing two countries but now has changed to map markers etc. Doing multiple splits of a topic is difficult.
Could you please start a new topic about your markers.
i am going to guess you have Mixed content now on your page if your markers are in a http file and you are now using https…that is the most common issue.
So, I visited your site and using the console browser developer tools (you can also do this, just click on tools and inspect)
sure enough the whole page is throwing this tidbit
